Will we see Real4D and Scala for OS 4?
« on: October 14, 2003, 10:38:19 PM »
Hello

I do remember some years ago when there should be new AMigas (Abox,
Walker etc.) there was much talk about Scala porting their new
versions to the Amiga back again.
I tried Scala on the PC and it has much improved but somehow it still
loads MMOS (MultiMediaOS programmed by the Commodore guys who did the
Amiga OS) inside Windows.
I think the new AMIGA OS 4 needs a very good MM programm to be on top
again with all the MM computers out there.

So will we see it?
(I know there's Hollywood, I have it here, but I want Scala all
version to be ported back to the Amiga)

Or for that matter AmigaVision would be cool to. Though Commodore
neglegted to have AmigaVision Pro finished.

And Hyperion told once they had the rights to port Real 4D back to the
Amiga.
Does that still count?
Real 4D (at Amiga times Real 3D is th only programm that does
raytracing pictures which aren't distinguishable from photographs)
Just go to their homepage and check the picture galery.
I know there are other progs, but real 4D has reyllally all the
features.

So Hyperion will we see Real 4D?

bye
Manou

real3d v4 , yes it will come for os4. (only os4)
scala? , doubt it.. why? because its now 8 years since scala touched an amiga unless it was one of their service people out in the field.

but according to the latest interviews there is an remote possibility for such to happen (scala to appear back on the brand it was created for.)

as a last note , they dropped amiga because of the market, so lets hope the market gets stronger.

and for media vision, ok it might be good this new version but what i have seen of it before...wasnt much to shout over.

Whats up with all the hate!

If I remember rightly, Hyperion do have the licence or agreement or something to port RealSoft (I think it's called now) to OS4.

ATM they keep babbling on about being 'busy' with some other project. Whatever that might be ;-)

Yes, -real- info is that it is happening. I know the fellow who does the port, a Swede. Last status report was given to us at the OS4 On Tour Gothenburg but then it was "nothing new here" from many people. Perhaps that's why people missed the information. The fellow coding Real3D was at that event and talked to Ben at that time.

These are interesting times we live in. New machines in progress, new AmigaOS in progress.. userbase slowly, slowly growing..  which is a success in itself.

Well--not likely. In fact about 17 months ago I spent a great deal of effort recovering the archives from all of our DC6250 tapes and restoring them onto a new form of media so that they will be legible in the future.
[actually--it was kind of funny--all of Scala: Oslo's Development Servers/Amiga Workstations, etc. came to 1.7 GB of data...]
As for selling the Source Code--make us an offer!
We are a business...

End of Quote

So don't hold your breath for Scala on OS4 anytime soon (other than running MM400 thru emu possibly).

Unless you've got lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ burning a hole in your pocket.....................

joannaK: when its done . :D

@all
about the scala oslo thingy, its not unknown to anyone that scala is now a very big company and oslo (once was the Hq) is now just a tiny part of it, so there is still some hope but as i said earlier, i doubt it.
