rename files in magellan
« on: October 17, 2003, 01:41:05 PM »
Hi all,
I got often the error file not found under dopus magellan 5.82 with long filenames when trying to copy or move them. So the only solution is to rename the file under WB because I got the same error when renaming them under magellan.
Is there a new command (CLI) available for dopus which would handle long filenames ? AFAIK I set up WB and magellan for the same number of characters.

@lionstorm

i have the same problem with DirOpus 4.16 and 5.5.

AFAIK the problem happens only if there are some spaces in the filename. (PFS3)

So we both are stuck with this ?
I use multiren to rename (under magellan or WB) but it comes with its GUI and I would like a CLI only version (so that I can assign a button or a menu to it).

Don't know about Magellan, but in Magellan2 you can set the maximum filename length. Set this to 108 and you are happy.

For Workbench you need OS3.9 to handle long file names.

For multiren you should contact the author or use SRename.

Bye,

If I tell magellan to use 108, will I not face problems under the WB even with OS3.9 ? I dont remember the max for WB.
