I will point out the AMD system had a huge anchor, Windows itself.   Give it a good light weight OS, and then see how it compares with G5s.

Right.

IIRC, M$ office tools Mac versions contained unneccessary "busy loops" to slow down the SW at some point.

I predict that in the future M$ office for mac runs on top of x86 emulation.

BTW, AMD is looking to release their K9 in 2H05.  I wonder if it will be pin compatable with the K8s.
