I won't believe it, until its released.  Won't care after that.

Would never purchase one, even if they sold well.

The fact is, you don't trust a dishonest person.
People who trust dishonest people, well I call them fools.

Has there ever been an apology for passing off his (at the time) two person operation as an international engineering firm?

He obviously is more than a simple hoax, its been verified he did purchase the mcc design, and it seems, then that he is serious about doing something in this community, heck, he may even have the right to call his computer 'Amiga'...which is a unique position.

But, no way, would I buy an Athlon XP from him, when there are established, reputable, honest firms that sell Athlon XP's.

Does anyone really think their investment will be supported a year from now, two years from now?

its up to each person, but I suggest caution.

Well atleast Dave Haynie worked for Merlancia at some time.

Yes, he did, as did Skal Loret. You should read what they both think of Merlancia and RC now. (Hint: it's not very complimentary at all)

AFAIK, Harv Laser is still involved somehow, but when the guy running a company starts suing himself I'd say things were not quite on the straight and narrow.  Incidentally, it appears the "Dr." bit was an affectation and there never was any PhD.

Merlancia aka Dr death has already proven to be very untrustworthy and if any one is stupid enough to support them then you deserve all you get.

I would rather support Amiga Inc than Merlancia and thats saying a lot  :-)

OK, we'll deal with the PPC 'solution' when it comes out, but it seems the first release is the Athlon XP.

This means they will have to have the ability to buy off the shelf parts and put them in a case (have to assume he has the fancy case from the pictures, but then again, it may differ 'slightly' and end up being a case you can buy from other dealers)....

How much is this case worth?

Well, just grabbed a dartek catalogue...sure everyone has a better source than that, so check your favorite internet retailer.

An Athlon XP 2400+/80GB 256DDR Ram CD-RW system with Windows XP Pro edition, ran a whopping $649.

Ryan's system with perhaps a case that you want, (I don't)...and unknown spec's and maybe a free OS like linux, though we don't know the OS yet, so its speculation

AND by the way, don't anyone dare criticize me for speculation, Ryan has caused that by not releasing details...

that makes with his $999 price point, a free OS and funky case a $350 premium over a $649 dollar system sold by dartek (established in 1978 for real, and a very honest dealer)

I agree with Paul, I would trust Amiga, Inc. first, and thats saying a lot, because I don't trust Amiga, Inc. or any Amiga player, except the AROS team.

Thanks to rayt for THIS link! Ryan is revealed as being born in 1982.

I ended up at Myths & Legends of Merlancia which goes into detail about Merlancia's Amiga Active Magazine Advertisements, and Amiga Active's August 2001 article on Merlancia.

I was able to find my copy (issue 23) and dove into it as the site's mp3's downloaded!
(A word of warning for those with Dial-up -- lies.mp3 is 2.9Kb, and secretagentman.mp3 is 4.4Kb!)

Even if,  habitually, does not like to to me to correct people, FYI both lies.mp3 2.9MB and Dr wave sample, are genuine audio files and not dialer.

Ciao

Yes and downloading them at 56k or less would be real pain, and
thats why dial-up users have been warned (no mention of a dialer).
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else
