Trial Video Broadcasting from AmiWest 2003
« on: July 21, 2003, 08:51:31 PM »
As always the UGN is interested in bringing the best services to the Amiga Community.  This time it's live video streaming from the show floor.  As I've said in the title this is a trial of the technology, I can't promis it will work from the show floor but I will try to make it happen.

Given how bandwidth intensive video broadcasting is we can only support a limited number of streams.  I've decided they best way to reach the most people is to invite Users Groups to setup gatherings around the video stream.

So if your a User Group which has access to a Windows Powered PC (I know I know...) and 300K+ connection and think you can get a few people to gather around to watch and hear AmiWest and the interviews in realtime then drop me a note at tekmage@amiga.org.  We will be broadcasting both Saturday and Sunday the show floor and maybe other stuff too :)

Enjoy!

Bill "tekmage" Borsari

Hey tekmage, could ya record it too?  I'm trying to coordinate folk with vid cams at the show so as to try and make an AmiWest 2003 documentary.  (not owning a vid cam myself, it's rather hard, and I'll be working most of the show)

Would a PeerCast stream be a possibility?

Edit: Note that if a compatible stream would be available (seems like NSV is the only option presently), relaying into Peercast could be done from a separate host; anyone with a cable modem should have enough upstream to get the thing going, though a weak resolution/bitrate would be best to allow us poor DSL users to still propagate.
