« on: June 12, 2003, 12:48:52 AM »
The long awaited, major update 1.5 for Hollywood was released today.
Because of the great new features and the long development time, there is an update fee of $22 USD (only for users, who bought Hollywood before April 1st 2003). Hollywood 1.5 is available in a AmigaOS 68k version as well as in a native MorphOS PowerPC version. Many new features have been added to Hollywood 1.5, here are some of the most important:

* Support for multiple graphics layers
* Full control of layer position, size, transparency and light setting
* 68k version can also create MorphOS executables now and vice versa
* Over 50 new impressing transition effects (totalling in over 100 now!)
* Integrated image-processor that supports: Rotation, color inverting, gray scaling, axis flipping, texturing,  mixing, lighten, darken, scale, stretch and tinting
* Support for Intellifonts
* All audio output is retargetable through AHI including full channel mixing and 16-bit stereo audio
* Full control over master volume
* Possibility to limit maximum number of frames per second
* Windows can have a dynamic transparency
* Joystick support!
* Powerful object animation functions
* Off-screen rendering
* New GUI
* Over 80 other useful new functions! (totalling in over 240 now!)
* Many new impressing example programs

Malibu, the Scala plugin for Hollywood 1.5, will be released in a few days. You can already order it in a bundle with Hollywood 1.5 and save some money. Malibu is also available in a AmigaOS 68k version as well as in a MorphOS. Please have a look at the product pages of Malibu and Hollywood to get the ultimate overview over both products.

Hollywood is shaping up as a very nice tool.  To my understanding Maguila was developed using Hollywood.  Since the new Hollywood has PPC compatability, I wonder if it would allow the Maguila author to make Maguila PPC native?  That would rock!
Regards,
Targhan

@Targhan
It is. Thats why I was a bit surprised to find the 68k version only. Not that it matters much with a tool like this... still.

Seems like it's becoming similar the old CanDo program with the scripting capabilities.
AmigaOS enthusiast since 1993.

Congrats Hollywood guys!
 Targhan.. Maguila is cool!
I have a couple of questions for the Hollywood people:

1. Does it have full gui ability similar to scala?

2. Does it really playback scala scripts accurately?

I'm starting to get interested. ;)

Are there any reviews of Hollywood anywhere? :P

Edit: Hollywood and Malibu has just been ordered.  I'll let everyone know my impressions.  Does anyone have any SCALA scripts they'd like tested out?

I`ve got v1. Haven`t used it much apart from the tutorials and examples. Looks very good. It needs a GUI like SCALA I think. Yes its nice to have the scripting, but it shouldn`t be all scripting. If this was done in a GUI it would sell bucket loads more than it does right now, and it would be much more accessable for the average user. Still worth buying though.

I qualify for the upgrade thing, so may soon get the upgrade, even if I haven`t used v1 much yet. :-)
