Statement from Cinemaware
« on: March 24, 2003, 09:16:17 AM »
Hopefully you know who we are as Cinemaware, as we are well known for our past Amiga games. We are of course doing new titles as well as you can see on our web-site www.cinemaware.com. We have also started a series of "Digitally Remastered" titles with clickBoom for a while - but unfortunately that has gone badly. I was wondering if you could report the information below on your website.

We understand that some of classic Amiga/Cinemaware fans have been concerned about certain news spread around by clickBoom, the Canadian developer which Cinemaware has employed to develop the "Digitally Remastered" series of games. At this point Cinemaware would just like to make a simple statement that clickBoom's allegations are false and misleading, and that we will issue an official statement in the future regarding this matter.
In reference to this, Cinemaware would appreciate if anyone involved in the below cases come into contact with us as soon as possible, writing to cinemaware@cinemaware.com:

http://www.amigagadget.de/39/f.int.juiceteam.html
http://personal.inet.fi/koti/janne.karppanen/tekstit/quakeppc3d.txt

As you can see history tends to repeat itself.
In the meantime, we appreciate your support and understand your frustration at not being able to see more "Digital Remasters" coming out soon. We are working hard to resolve this situation.
Please look out for exciting news regarding Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown soon!

Sincerely,
Lars Fuhrken-Batista

Why cant Cinemaware do the Amiga versions as before? Amiga users is at the moment the most loyal users. You should atleast develope for Amiga first, then the other platforms.

I got a 060/PPC Amiga wich would be very happy playing your remastered games for sure!

And so do how many else ? 500 ? 1000 ?

Not a market  :-(
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

As I see it, there is no real reason for a DR title for the Amiga to be produced, the originals is avaible for the platform, and is intended for the Amiga platform. The reason behind the DR titles is to provide todays PC and MAC users with some classic gameplay, slightly modified to be a smooth experience.

However, standalone followup versions would be interesting, especially for A1/OS4 setups.
