Tao Group today announced collaboration with Accelerated Technology (AT), the embedded systems division of Mentor Graphics(R) that sees Tao's intent(R) multimedia platform running on the Accelerated Technology(R) Nucleus(tm) Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). This collaboration includes full support and reference of intent's media engines and Java Virtual Machine (JVM) capabilities on the Nucleus RTOS.  The combined technologies bring increased flexibility, functionality and significantly-reduced development time and cost to existing Nucleus customers building consumer electronic devices such as SMART phones, digital TV and digital cameras.

A reference implementation of intent on Nucleus is available for Hitachi
SH3 platforms (including DSP variants). Tao customers are already using
this to create ARM and MIPS intent/Nucleus derivatives.

Accelerated Technology's royalty-free Nucleus RTOS provides a scalable
and robust software foundation from which to build embedded
applications, without the traditional source code and licensing
constraints of its main rivals.  The availability of intent's graphics,
award-winning audio, streaming and unbeatably fast Java technology
capabilities further broadens the development scope and freedom of
innovation enjoyed by Nucleus customers.

The intent environment delivers unique capabilities and business
benefits to digital device manufacturers and network operators.  intent
is agnostic of underlying hardware, OS and CPU, as well as providing a
language independent execution platform.  The addition of Nucleus
support strengthens intent's armoury and underlines intent's unique
ability to quickly and effectively interoperate with any operating
system.

Francis Charig, Chairman and Chief Executive of Tao Group commented: "We
started talking to Accelerated Technology only recently and it is
testament to the incredible speed, flexibility, and ease of porting of
intent that we are able to formally announce full and unrestricted
collaboration.  The commercial synergy and market focus of our two
companies will provide a refreshingly straight-forward experience for
our mutual customers."

Robert Day, director of marketing for Accelerated Technology said: "The
combination of these world-class software components creates the perfect
multimedia match for a broad range of client devices. Nucleus has always
had very strong market presence in embedded consumer applications and
our customers can now benefit from even more functionality to help
reduce their development time."
