Failing to boot.
« on: October 09, 2003, 03:35:48 PM »
After quite a while of odd behaviour (instabilty, etc) My amiga is now refusing to boot. At the moment it will do about 4 cycles of startting to boot then r5esetting then booting again until the monitor powers on with just a black screen. As i'm using a voodoo3 i cant see what's going on while it boots, im just about to lug a telly upstairs to do that.

Bit worried as when I had it on its side there was a screw laying in the case which shorted out on the motherboard. Was right in the bottom left corner (in a power tower), next to the small circular ferric coil type thing near the video ports.

Amiga 1200 040/166 PPC
os 3.9

hook up a tv , pretty sure its just a fault in the first lines in the startup-sequence , might be blizkick or simmilar.

yeah just watched it boot on tv - turns out I moved my samba directory and there was an assign to it in the startup. The error message was appearing on the native output and not on my monitor. Ta.

You could try to run user-startup after iprefs in startup-sequence, so errors from user-startup appear on the gfx card (in the future).
