A1200 Ethernet (LAN)
« on: September 28, 2003, 09:38:24 PM »
Hi there!

I have a A1200 w/Blizzard1240T.
I want to know if there is a PCMCIA LAN card that don't conflict with the accelerator card or my genlock. Basically, all I need to do is to make the amiga a part of the local intranet (through FTP access).

Thanks in advance...

PCMCIA don't conflict with Blizzard 1240-T. New Blizzard turbos have their memory in 32-bit area, so there is no problem in this respect.

You can use most NE2000 compatible cards with cnet.device. To see a list of the compatible cards, check cnetdevice.lha for the compatibility list.

You can also use some 3com compatible cards with hard/drivr/3c589.lha.

The PCMCIA problems mainly affected "memory only" trapdoor cards, and 68020 accelerator cards that saved costs by not including any autoconfig.
(I think some early 030 cards were the same too)
On schedule, and suing

It wouldn't be useful to use 100Mb anyways because Amiga can't even use the full bandwith of the 10Mb cards..

The 3com ethernet driver works with my 3C589C EtherLink(tm) III... :-)

Just be prepaired that you properbly will encounter reset problems with the PCMCIA port...

So you should use these utils to prevent it:
CardPatch.lha
CardReset.lha

Don't use before you've tried without them...
