Bill McEwen in The Seattle Times
« on: April 30, 2002, 04:08:09 AM »
Opening the Seattle Times to the business section today, I was suprised to see part of the page taken over by a storm of red checkered boing balls!

The interview can be found here or on the front page of "Business".

>Connectsoft

When I asked Connectsoft, the reply: "There is no one called McEwen in our list of former employees!"

Perhaps Mr Pfeiffer (AMIGA COO) can explain this matter. He is a former staff of Connectsoft.

>Net Ventures.
I had checked 22 countries for Net Ventures but cann't find any trace of the company. Perhaps this is a "paper company" with capital of US$ 1 (one dollar)!

I wonder who is "Crazy enough" to support AMIGA, after Kouri Capital / Invisible Hand went bankrupt because of the AMIGA curse. :(

Hey, they only call you crazy if it fails. Otherwise, you wind up like those who will turn ENRON around  :-D

:-)  You better go crawl back under your rock; you won't last long in the bright light of Amiga's reality.

How appropos that the most negative messages here are posted anonymously.  One wishes for a slashdot-like threshold setting so one need not see this drivel.

Fact is, McEwen and Co. have delivered products, whether or not it's been according to pre-announced schedules and they've been at least as communicative, if not more so, than any previous Amiga owners.  If the Seattle Times' facts are a little loose, well, there's no surprise here!  I seldom read the Times for that reason, among others.

That said, since they DID get the name right, this publicity, however bare-bones, is GOOD publicity!  More power to 'em, and despite the source [a couple folks at the Times are known Microsoft partisans], it's nice to see this kind of coverage in the heart of the Silicon Forest.

Well, it wasn't much of an interview.

Hopefully it will generate some interest though!

Nope, Net Ventures is from Netherlands:

The founder is a former CEO of PLANET.NL.
Strange, they mention "invisible hands" on their website. :)

Hmmm.  They also have a link about Amiga on their page.  Interesting.

Surly this would have to sture some interest in the company Amiga Inc. Hopfuly some will update them selfs with Amiga Incs avitivites and current projects. Hopfuly ,they will then find out about AmigaOS4 and hopfuly consider buying again!

To Anonymous Coward,

If the curse hit them, it's because they meant ill towards Amiga.  The curse only hits those who mean ill, like Gateway (see them sink), Escom (glub glub), and even Commodore (the Ali-Gould era).

Unfortunately, some who mean bad do get away with it ... for now.

Noo, you've got it all wrong. The curse strikes those who ever are in control of the Amiga Platform. But only speaking in terms of parent companies.

The Amiga doesnt have a parent company atm. It is a company, and that company is Amiga Inc. From the begining, the Amiga always wanted to be on its own. Runing its own show, not taking orders from parent companies. Ie Commador, Escom Gateway. The only way to make sure those parents companies could loosen the grip on Amiga was to curse them with bankruptsy.

Now that Amiga controls its self, its aim is to successed and not stop untill it does. And even then it plans to succeed in other areas.
