Mozilla 1.0 RC1 imminent
« on: April 12, 2002, 11:07:15 PM »
Mozilla.org, the organization responsible for the open source Mozilla Web browser, has branched for 1.0.  Mozilla 1.0 will freeze - finally - the Mozilla APIs so that developers can actually program to Mozilla.

Mozilla 1.0 RC1 is expected this week or next, and a final 1.0 release is due out in late April or early May. PC and Mac users can get the latest branch builds of Mozilla here.
Further information on the 1.0 branch can be found at MozillaZine.org.

Editor's Note: The home page for the (currently idle) port of Mozilla to the Amiga DE can be found at MozDev.org

In other Mozilla news, after branching for 1.0, Mozilla.org opened the post-1.0 code "trunk" for landings  for the alpha phase of Mozilla 1.1 . The latest trunk builds of Mozilla can be found here.

Just spotted this on Czech Amiga News:

BTW: What about Amiga port of Mozilla?
Ben Hermans, Hyperion: "Our estimate to port the Gecko engine to OS 4 is 2 months tops. But that's two months we don't have right now. It really isn't all that difficult (the code is very platform independent) but you need to know your way around Linux and Amiga."

Yeah, I'd much more prefer an AmigaOS port too.
