Reading, England, April 9th 2002. Tao Group has announced a strategic partnership with Yospace to deliver device portable, enterprise mobility solutions to a variety of connected terminals.
Tao’s intent® media platform delivers market-leading performance and reliability for the execution of compelling multimedia content, including Java(TM) applications, to the broadest range of handheld operating systems. Yospace has developed a suite of Java(TM) 2 Micro Edition technologies that dramatically compresses the development time of intelligent client mobility solutions.
YoCOA(TM) (Yospace Connection Oriented Architecture) enables rapid Enterprise Application Integration for mobile applications, quickly taking core data from systems such as SAP and Siebel and making this available to ‘intelligent clients.’
By deploying these technologies on the intent platform, Yospace has quickly been able to make available to enterprises the benefits of its ‘Connected Intelligent Client’ solutions across a range of device operating systems, including Embedded Linux®, iTRON, Symbian OS®, PocketPC® and PocketPC Smartphone Edition 2002.
The concept of a ‘connected intelligent client’ mobility solution is one in which the end-user benefits from a rich and usable task-specific graphical interface with access to live enterprise data, and the ability to continue operation when network coverage is not available. In addition, intelligent use of wireless bandwidth delivers real cost savings for enterprises operating ‘always-on’ mobility solutions.
"Through our partnership with Tao Group, for the first time it is possible to deliver high quality Java-based client/server applications to a wide variety of devices in a high performance, reliable and consistent manner for enterprise and operators alike," comments David Springall, CTO of Yospace.
"We are also able to rapidly develop rich user interfaces using our YoGI(TM) technology. This allows us to quickly re-factor the design for stylus-driven and thumb-driven handsets," adds Springall, "by running on the intent platform YoGI has access to a wealth of media technologies including full international font support and some advanced graphics capabilities that you would never have thought possible on smaller devices."
Francis Charig, Executive Chairman of Tao Group comments, "The enterprise space is extremely important for Tao with a number of very important recent wins across the globe demonstrating the huge performance advantages only our intent product can deliver. The Yospace partnership is important as they can exploit the potential of our platform and enhance it further through the delivery of network-aware mobility solutions."
