« on: September 22, 2003, 07:32:33 AM »
hi,

how many devices the A2008 can handle?
problem is: i own an A2008-Controller and want to connect a HD. is it possible to connect an IDE-CDRom, too? is the A2008 able to handle master/slave configurations?

thanks.

I have one of those also.  I forgot I had it and dug it out.  I don't know about how many drives it can run, but I hooked up an old bigfoot drive 4.3 Gig  to it and it worked fine.

Throw that away and buy an A2091 SCSI controller, it is the best controller for the Amiga ever m...

I'd guess any standard IDE controller can handle two devices, so the answer to your question will be yes, but I cannot help any more than this. Have you checked out some of the Amiga hardware sites:
amiga-hardware.com
amiga.resource.cx

They sometimes have downloadable manuals, etc
I like Amigas

...well, maybe not... :)
some older hardware-devices (f.e. cdroms) were never build with a CableSelect or SLAVE option (even the non-propitary). thats why i wanted to know how many devices the A2008 can handle - i'm not quite sure if it is a standard-ide controller. :)

yes, i took a look at www.amiga-hardware.com - no success there.... :(

anyway - many thanks.
