Help needed from u Amiga wizards
« on: September 21, 2003, 01:20:48 PM »
Hi there folks !

After having parted with a lot of heartache (due to cicumstances) from my Amiga 4k some 8 years ago, I finally have had the chance to buy one just recently. I also came across a Mikronik tower on Ebay, which I won (lucky me :-).  [cut the crap...]

Now my question is, I can use the original power supply and built that in the tower, but I 've read somewhere that it is possible to use a  ATX PSU, what exact steps and measures should I take in order to do this ? What are the downsides ? Is there a power connection adapter for matching the ATX PSU on to the Amiga motherboard ?

Thanks so much for you replies in advance !

Cheers,
akira

Elbox have created and atx->at converter which is used in their power tower for A4000. Try looking at www.elbox.com

So the only thing I need to do is to plug this ATX to AT converter into the ATX power supply cable on the one hand, and connect the PSU onto the A-4000 motherboard on the otherhand ? It's that simple ?

What if I wanted to do it myself, are there any reliable sources or sites (without the risk of frying the board ;-) that explains from A to Z what to do ?

Thanks for ur replies again ! This is a wonderful board !

Cheers,
akira

I had a quick look on Aminet and found this: atx_psu.lha.
