Amiga 4000 wireless connection?
« on: May 28, 2009, 05:02:15 AM »
Hi All,

What would be the best way to install a wireless network card into an Amiga 4000?

I know that its easier and cheaper with the A1200 as a PCMCIA card can be used. Is there anything similiar for the A4000 that fits into the ZORRO slots?

Cheers

A prism2 PCI card plugged into a Prometheus might work. Easier option is probably to attach a wireless bridge to the end of a traditional wired network card.

There are a few older threads on this matter that may offer more insight.

A Deneb USB card and almost any USB wireless adapter. The advantages being the USB card would be useful for other things such as hard drives, USB keys etc.

A Zorro ethernet card such as an X-Surf, Ariadne, A2065 and a wireless bridge such as the linksys WGA54G might be cheaper.

If it is just about getting static data from a PC to an A4000 then the cheapest way would be to use a IDE->CF adapter and a CF card and "walk" the data over.

Are you sure about the usb to wireless adapter?

I have mine set up with a usb to lan converter plugged in to a wireless access point...

If you're right I could have saved some cash! :)
