Problem with Debeb and GG486...
« on: May 23, 2009, 04:39:29 PM »
Hi guys, I came accross an issue that I couldn't explain so I need an advise (maybe Michael B. could know better).

I have an A4000D CSPPC with CVPPC, XSurf, Deneb, Indivision 4000, and a GG386 (With ISA VGA+SB plus HardDrive). I run OS3.9 with AfAOS (Kick update+Morelibspace on Deneb flash). Everything was working as intended till I got an GG486 which replaced the GG386.

From the moment I switched the boards I saw some problem at booting to WB (window saying that can't open SCSI device 1). Switching back to my old GG386 --> no problem!
I removed all cards leaving only Indivision (for VGA input) and GG486 booting with floppy of WB3.1 - SUCCESS! and card was working just fine. After putting the cards together I had the same issue again. After removing one card at a time I realized that the problem was Deneb!
- System as is without Deneb works just fine and GG486 works perfectly.
- System as is with Deneb but without GG486 still works perfectly. [Check Early startup pic]
- System with both Deneb and GG486 has issues on boot (Early startup menu isn't right) plus Luciferin doesn't recognise Deneb although Poseidon stack runs just fine (USB stick worked) [Check Early startup pic], [Check Luciferin screenshot]
- System with Deneb and GG386 works perfectly anyway. [Check Early startup menu]

I thought that maybe the flash modules of Poseidon or Morelibspace or the upgraded kick could make some issues so I removed all flash content with Luciferin in order to check out... Still problem at boot and the same Early startup screen with NO GG486...

Can u point anything that I can do in order for my GG486 to appear on the Early startup menu = working as intended along with Deneb? :)

@mfilos

Are you running the Deneb in DMA mode? Try PIO I guess...see if it makes a difference.

Looks to me as if the Config-In/Out mechanism is borken on either card. Did you try changing the *order* of the cards? In any case, this is really weird and you should contact Michael Böhmer directly.

So, just checked. There is something WRONG in your system. The 8512/101 entry is listed as "GREX 1200" - which is not available in your system.
Please start your system:
- without DENEB, with 386, without 486
- without DENEB, without 386, with 486
- with DENEB, without 386, without 486
and send me the showconfig / listexp / WhichAmiga outputs (please use ASCII, I prefer listexp) both by mail (mboehmer@e3b.de) and here in the forum for the others.

Even if the 8512/101 entry is valid, it should be there only *once*.

Michael

Thanks a lot for the info Michael. When I'll be home I'll install ListExp and send you the export with mail in all circumstances that you asked.

Dunno if the CVisionPPC (that is installed on same expansion port as Grex 4000) inputs all these lines (Don't have any other Phase5 products than CSPPC and CVPPC anyway)
