PCMCIA stops amiga 1200 booting
« on: February 25, 2009, 11:18:21 AM »
My mum got f***ed off with me this morning and yanked my A1200 onto the floor along with the TV I fixed the tv but
whenever a PCMCIA device is plugged into my amiga 1200 it just sits there and makes a whistleing sound. Could this be a fauly capacitor?

Look the pins of the PCMCIA conector. They can be broken or bended.

I agree i have had touching pins from an accident with miggy while pcmcia card inserted and this stopped amiga working properly.

Check this out, then check your mum into a clinic  :-D

My mom once pulled the handbrake because she got mad at me when I was driving her to get her car from the car repair shop :-(
The ironic thing was that she thought I was driving too slow...

you have tired to just boot the amiga 1200 then after its started carefully plug your pcmcia cdrom controller back in u can l think with ram cards network etc
there is fault with certain amiga 1200 mb that stop pcmcia
cards beeing seen on boot up there easy fix for this
but first try that.
unless just one the pins is snaped of l have done this to they are very delicate.

Sorry to hear about this. Was anything plugged into the PCMCIA when the Amiga hit the floor?

I have an Archos PCMCIA HD and had to stop using it when I got a Blizzard 1230 MKIV as with the Blizzard enabled it stoppe dthe AMiga recognising the HD (where is this going?) Oh yes, does the PCMCIA work after you have unplugged anything in the exapansion slot underneath?

Where did the whistling seem to be coming from? Whereabouts in the Amiga? E.g. at the vents, nearest the 'V' key etc etc.

Well it been a long time now since I last tried to boot my a1200 but the pins aren't bent and I was unsure where the whistleing was coming from. I will still try removing the the expansion card but I need a new TV to test it with because my old one broke along with the amiga AAAAAAAAA!!!
