Thinking of getting Indivision AGA - Questions...
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:06:17 PM »
Kicking around the idea of picking up an Indivision AGA card for my A1200.   Right now I'm using a 1960 monitor.  Questions...

- How does the device handle PAL & NTSC modes?  I can still switch between the two modes without any issue right?

- Do the different screen modes fill the screen correctly?  PAL games work on my C1960 monitor fine but sometimes looked squished.  How does the indivision handle all the different modes that the Amiga can throw at it?   Does it try to always "fill the screen"?

- Would you buy this upgrade again?

Thanks!
Brian

The indivision outputs VGA so PAL or NTSC becomes irrelevant and both PAL & NTSC based software work terrifically. With the HighGFX driver from AmiNet you can get 1024x768 screen resolution. But 640x480 256 color is probably best for games... Hope that helps...

Yes the Indivision works will all modes and HighGFX Extreme will actauly require an Indivision.  It's a 'transparent' upgrade, the cutom chipset is not even aware of the Indivision.

The depends on your monitor.  A CRT will look better than an LCD and 4:3 is better than 16:9 display.  You'll probably have to adjust your monitors settings to get it all centered and to fill the screen fully.

HighGFX Extreme will do 1280x1024  :-o

You cannot choose the resolution or colour-depth of no-wb software (eg games).  The only option with the Indivision is a 'compatibility' scan-rate mode (50hz) or a 1.25 (65hz I think) mode.  Only when running at 50hz will you get smooth scrolling & not all monitors will run that low.
