Question about audio mod from aminet..
« on: February 08, 2009, 08:42:03 AM »
So I was perusing aminet and found a text file named "killfilters" and decided to try it.

It says to remove transistor Q341 from either the a600 / a1200 to have the filter disabled for good. However after I removed the transistor it now sounds like the filter is always on with no more high-end clarity. The real kicker is that after I removed it, it fell into the carpet! Doh.

My questions are these: Did they just have the wrong transistor listed? If so, which one should I remove instead? Now that I lost this transistor for good might it be possible to reorder the piece / use something as a replacement?

Thanks fellows!

Since Q341 is used as a switch, if you bridge the right two contacts you should get the same effect. Removing it completely pulls the control line down to -AV, so pulling it up to +AV should disable the filters. Use a smallish resistor (50-500 Ohms) to connect pins 2-3 of former Q341.
