Blizzard 2060 help please!
« on: February 02, 2009, 07:32:21 PM »
Finally received this all the way from Germany (took the typical 4 weeks) and naturally, am having problems with the installation. Board seems to work okay. OS 3.9 or 3.1 recognises all the ram, the fact its an 060, etc.

I can only get the computer to boot if a disable setpatch from startup-sequence. Of course, the system is useless as is after that, but if I load setpatch, I get a ramlib program error that forces me to reboot or suspend. If you select suspend, computer sits there and does nothing.

My CD-ROM no longer works either, even after installing the Phase 5 ZD0 driver. Nothing on the install disks give me a clue as to the device driver either. Default seems to be simply .device. Phase5.device does not work of course.

How quickly an Amiga can become an expensive paper weight huh?  lol

A2k OS 3.9, KS 3.1, 2060 w/ 128mb ram, 6.2 mobo, ECS et.,

Anyone here can come to my emotional rescue?

On this link you will find very much about 060 Processor. Okay, it's about an Blizzard 1260, but there are some information that you need to know.

Do you have installed the 060 libraries?

if you don't install, then your 2060 will crash like what you described.

Get the new libraries from http://phase5.a1k.org/ and download the Blizzard 2060 manual to read more about your fastest Blizzard 2060.

Here some instructions:

First turn off your A2000,remove the card and install the 060 libraries.
Copy the CD of AmigaOS 3.9 to your HD.
Turn Off your A2000, put the 2060 card back your A2000.
Open HDtoolbox and look for someting about 2060SCSI.device (I don't know if this SCSI device is that exact name.)
Assign the AmigaOS 3.9 drawer.
Run the setup installing AmigaOS 3.9 and choose to install the CD driver.

Thanks amiga1260 - got somewhere, albeit slowly.

Installed the latest 060 library/Phase 5 software and no longer get the ramlib error and other misc. probs. The 2 install disks that came with the board were obsolete and caused a LOT of weird problems. Lesson learned: get and install the latest software!

All seems GREAT in A2k land again. And ummm... the speed increase is phenomenal. The 2060 and my A2k seems to fly. A few strange problems left, but I'm sure they are OS software related. "Major" problem is it seems I've lost compatibility with some WHDload games. ALL of the Kings Quest games for example. Not sure if I have to fiddle with Degrader some more to get them to work, but I get mem expansion errors and the game will crash...
