Battle Command on Amiga Forever
« on: September 06, 2003, 06:31:13 PM »
I downloaded the game Battle Command from Back to the Roots and then hit F12 in Amiga Forever to load the .adf file. All it gave me was an empty disk.

I also tried the game Ports to Call and it started to load and then just gave me a blank Amiga window with a close box on the right.

Since I am new to Amiga Forever, I might be doing something wrong. I have gotten one game to work that I have downloaded from Back to the Roots so far, which is good! I am wondering if I am missing something?
Any suggestions?

I dl'ed that game and noticed in my WinUAE enviroment it is shown on the Workbench as DF0:NDOS ... mmm maybe wrong disk ? naaa...

however the meaning in both cases is just one: game has to be load when the Amiga boots, and can't be launched from WB.

This procedure is likely to be the same for very old game (those from A500) that were not AmigaDOS formatted, but used a different scheme of storing stuff on the disk (trackloaders if I'm correct).
These procedures also allows the game developers to store much more data on a single DD floppy than standard 837kb (OFS).

The disk seems to be also protected, and some protections on the Amiga make just some files to appear from Workbench, not all.

So if you wanna play this game is to insert the disk in drive DF0 and then reboot the Amiga.

You can use one of the Amiga Forever configuration for vanilla A500 to play the game...

Hope it helps !

Thank you!!
Well, I was able to get several more to work now. I am rusty, since I haven't touched an Amiga in years, but it is all starting to come back to me, hehe.

I still had no luck with Battle Command, but I was able to get Ports of Call to work and several others.
