thats exactly what i did to heatsink my CV64/3D (overclocking, not for 3D rendering, but for massive resolutions) blob of paste, smoothed out, and heatsink attached with two small blobs of glue on opposite corners
all good :-)
on my blizz1240, i have a couple of heatsinks that are big enough to rest on the shelf the host 1200 is sat on.
thing is, the shelf is metal, and perforated, so plenty of air movement, and heat conducting off to a massive surface area. so no fans... but if i loose that trolly, i'll have to rethink my solution. prolly gonna swap out to an o6o, so heat will become a non issue, and i'll be able to put the trapdoor back on :-)
