CyberVision 64/3D + CyberGraphX V3 + OS3.9 BB1+2
« on: December 12, 2008, 03:10:13 PM »
After installing CyberGraphx V3 (I cannot find V4 anywhere. Tried to buy, they never delivered. urgf..). The screenmode-database in Screenmode prefs is empty (only PAL modes).

Do I need to patch exec or something similar ?

if someone has Cyber GraphX V4 who can sell to me, I would bve a very happy man.

BTW: Why would I need V4 if I have V3 ? Any pros/cons ?

HW Setup: CPU=040 and GFXCARD=CV64/3D

is there a CV64/3D sounding monitor icon in your devs:monitors folder?
there is a fair chance you will have to go into CGXTools and tell it what kind of monitor you have (or near approximation), it will then fill out the screen modes in CGXtools, or you can configure them yourself, and (once saved and rebooted) these screen modes will appear in screenmode prefs.

its a pain to set up, but it does offer good flexability once you get the hang of it.

-edit-

CGX4 is mainly bug fixes, speedups, code optimizations, and additional drivers for more GFX cards (namely the C/BvisionPPC).
i ran a cyb2-040 A4000D with KS3.0, WB3.0, and a cv64/3d with CGX3 during my time at uni and never had any probs.

A500, A600, A1200x3, A2000, A3000, A4000 & a CD32.
and probably just like the rest of you, crates full of related "treasure" for the above XD

If you installed boing bag 2, you either need to skip exec.library romupdate or you need to install CyberGFX 4.
See here for the explanation.

With Cybergrafx V3 you must replace your setpatch command
with the following:

SetPatch QUIET SKIPROMUPDATES "exec.library"

or if for example scsi.device is already skipped:

SetPatch QUIET SKIPROMUPDATES "exec.library,scsi.device"

No, that did not work. I skipped exec.library as you explained, rebooted and still not new screenmodes in the listing :-\

BTW: If I remove CGX3 and install P96 instead, I get another problem. Every time i try to execute the CG643D monitordriver when it is under devs:monitors, i the amiga gurus.

I wonder what I should try next. I plan on installing a plain WB3.1 and build myself up from there and see where things go wrong :)

Unless someone can give me more tips :)

What if you change the setpatch command into the following:
c:setpatch noromupdate quiet

or

rename "Devs:amigaOs ROM update" to "Devs:AmigaOS ROM update.save"

Either way will skip the amiga romupdate. This worked for other users whose screenmodes disappeared with cgf3 under Os3.9 BB2.

If you use a harddisk greater than 4 gb, than you have to  split the amiga romupdate and load scsi.device of BB2 with loadmodule.

Just to clarify, you would need to do a cold reboot after changing the arguments.

Do you mean that the system crashes while booting, or when you manually try to execute the file? (There shouldn't be any reason to do this if the file is already in devs:monitors during bootup.)

Hopefully it won't come to that hassle - CGX 3,4, and P96 are working fine here on my CV64/3D with 3.9. :-) Did you let the install script create some generic screenmodes, based on the selected max frequency of your monitor? Otherwise you'll have to do it manually, or pick your monitor (or one close enough) with the configuration tool.
