Floppy disk checking/validating program?
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:05:13 PM »
Just wondering if there's a  program I can use to check the integrity of Amiga floppy disks, without having to load/read the entire contents of the disks?

I have quite a collection of Amiga disks and I'd like to know if they're (and their contents!) all still okay.

Some sort of disk checking tool is what I'm after...

Cheers,

Mike.

DiskSalv does that, as well as recovery.

Edit: Oh, I guess it will have to check the entire disk.  Did you mean manually loading/testing the files, or you wanted something that could see errors without checking all the tracks, directory structure, etc.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I'd guess that any program the checks disks would need to check the disk by checking the disk.

Hi,

Yes, I expect that the entire disk has to be read/scanned - that's fine... I don't mind just popping disks in and out, I just don't want to have the run whatever app/games that's on them to find out if they're working or not...

I'll give DiskSalv a go...

Cheers,

Mike.
