Preparing to sell my Amiga 1000, some questions.
« on: November 16, 2008, 07:23:37 PM »
Hello.  I've got an Amiga 1000 I'm preparing to sell.  I wonder if it's sellable and what kind of price I might expect.  It has a fairly low serial number it seems (the lowest I've seen of any listed on ebay and lower than the one in the Computer History Museum).  It boots and will read a disk, at least enough to see that it's not a kickstart disk (I don't have one).

It includes a keyboard, but no mouse, and a non-standard but probably working cord between the keyboard and computer.  The video works fine.

About Amiga 1000 serial numbers, what's the lowest you've seen?  Did they start at zero?

I've got a 1084S monitor to sell as well, but am considering...

#1: maybe keeping it
#2: maybe selling it with the Amiga 600
#3: maybe selling it alone
#4: maybe selling it with the Amiga 1000.

So many options!

I'm considering moving entirely to AROS (if it continues to exist in the post Anubis age).  My hope that is that someone will get really mad over Anubis and fork or take over AROS with a new passion, completing stuff that has been left undone for years!  One can hope.  ;-)

I think you're making too much of the serial number.  What matters most is the condition of the machine.  Clean and pristine, with all parts and the original box will gather much more in bids than a low serial number IMHO.

Having recently bought a working A1000 with keyboard and mouse and software for $10 on Craigslist, I think you might want to consider keeping it...

Around here, a working A1000 with keyboard and mouse generally goes for about $25.00 tops.
More with an original box, but not much more...
