Amiga OS4.1 on SAM. Booting to CLI?
« on: November 05, 2008, 05:56:46 AM »
I had my SAM off for a few weeks and now it only boots to the CLI.

If I execute the startup sequence by hand it continues booting properly but it does not execute startup-sequence by automatically.

I am not quite sure what happened to it.  It worked properly before I had turned it off for a few weeks.

I am not familiar with this new method of booting on OS 4.1.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tim

Run Media Toolbox,  select your drive, then click on
"Edit Partitions and Filesystems"

Click once on your boot partition and check to make
sure you have the "Bootable" switch selected.

Also, make sure the priority is higher than negative 128 too, it should be 0 by default.

Click "OK..",  then click "Save to disk".

If that doesn't work, type the next line in the boot cli;
  Protect  s:Startup-Sequence  +RWEDS

Then reboot....

Thanks for the suggestions.  They did not work.

System was already bootable.

I think what happened is that ImageFX did something and killed my booting somehow.  That was the last thing I tried to install and now my system boots only to CLI until I start the systems with execute s:startup-sequence.

What it did I do not know since 4.1 is new to me.

Any more ideas?

Hi! Tim check Uboot settings it sounds like your trying to boot from a non bootable device, you should be booting from onboard sata hard drive. :-D hope this helps.
cheers

Try booting it with the mouse and keyboard disconnected.

@omnicron10

ImageFX uses/installs ClassAct classes.

Installing it you have overwitten the Reaction one.

Copy back from your AOS4.1 CD the OS4 reaction classes.

SYS:Classes/Gadgets/ (not sure about SYS:Classes/Images also)

Good to know.  I will reinstall them.  I will have to try the rest when I am in front of the computer again.

Thanks
