A1200 FDD
« on: November 04, 2008, 03:47:29 PM »
Hello to all,
since I have some doubts about the FDD of Amiga
I would like to make some questions to the Amiga community.

I tried wherever possible to search on the old threads of the forum these things but there is more than one thing that I do not have clear in my mind.

Thant are:

1) My A1200 Mobo Rev. 1B cannot recognize the FDD Panasonic JU-257A605P. What is version the motherboard that supports this Drive from Panasonic?

I mean what Rev. board?

2) I am using in my A1200T the Internal FDD AmigaKit for I can not use any external FDD.

So what can I do to use 2 FDD?

Please help me clarify my ideas.

Thank you for everything

I don't think motherboard version is relevant unless its Escom A1200.

a quick 'google' finds this

it seems to be PC floppy. are you trying to use it as HD or just DD?

you want to use both floppies internally? look on aminet, it sure has hacks for that. (maybe some signals are missing on internal connector as A1200 was designed for 1 internal drive, I think)

edit: aminet link
Better sorry than worry.

Actually I don't know what revision is from Amiga Technology and what from Escom. And what revision is equipped with Panasonic FDD.

On the BBOAH I can see:

Rev 0 (Engineering Prototype)
Rev 1 (Advanced engineering prototype)
Rev 1A (Initial Release)
Rev 1B
Rev 1D.1
Rev 1D.3 (Budgie Rev -01 Release, E123C and E125C have been removed from motherboard)
Rev 1D.4 (Budgie Rev -02 Release, additionally XR358 470Ohm resistor removed, 470Ohm resistor added to pin 43 of Alice)
Rev 2B (Both budgie Rev -01 and Rev-02 were used. Resistor 118 was changed from 470Ohm to 220Ohm)

But nothing more is specified!

well it seems 'Amiga Technologies' was 'made' by Escom, is it this one?
Better sorry than worry.

I am quite surprised!

I did not think that the ESCOM had used the brand Amiga Technology. Now it is clear to me the great confusion that I had in mind considering the last ESCOM as brand coming out after the Escom company.

Now what is not clear is just what revision is it the one from Escom because the page that you have given me the BBOAH does not specify the revision!

This is the problem!
