An A1200 with a decent turbocard (and few choice upgrades) is still my favorite. As has been mentioned, it's small, all games are playable with WHDLoad, you have AGA for all those fantastic demos, and one of the best scandoublers ever made is about to be available, so you can view it all on a nice Trinitron. :)

if you go a1200 you could always get a bodegy bay if you start itching extra for expandability.

I have my dear A4000 with 060, mediator, voodoo, tv-card, sound card, 2+16+128mb ram, cd-rw, cocolino with cordless mouse and a 15" flat screen. I use it a lot :-)
Mostly for internet, mail, Jabberwockey and burning CD's.
PPC would be nice.. But what would I need PPC for?
2 years ago I never dreamed of owning this machine :-o
Expensive machine compared to my windoze/amd box..
But i like it :-P
I also own a A1200 with 030, 2+16mb ram and subway usb.. Mostly used for whdload, it's easy to transfer games and other files with an usb stick.
But.. Mostly when I play games, it's in the living room on my CD32.

Amiga: Newer give up, never surrender!
A1200, Blizzard 030, 2+32MB ram, 4GB CF, pcmcia netcard, Kickstart 3,1
A600, 2MB chip ram+4Mb pcmcia S-RAM, Kickstart 3,1
CD32 - Just for fun  :-D

Hey Red,

I'd tend to agree with the others that your A1200 set-up is pretty much ideal for a bit of retro dabbling. The only reason I can see for getting USB is for easy data transfer.

Personally, while I love emulation for letting me have the powerful Miggy I could never afford back in the day, there's something to be said for the real deal when it comes to having a bit of 'old skool' fun - the tactile experience of a real Amiga keyboard, warming your feet on the PSU, the buzz of the floppy drive... can't be emulated.

Once I finally get a bigger place, the first thing I'm going to do is put together a similar spec A1200 setup.

Get the A4000 decked to specks, then set-up and run The A64 Package from Questronix. Problem solved.

Actually get MagiC64, that emulator kicks some major butt and works very well on a 060.  :)

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

As I was re-reading through the thread, a thought came to me:
