IBrowse, doesn't display Ebay security image (curly text)
« on: August 19, 2008, 10:12:25 AM »
Hi there,

I've recently had a problem using IBrowse on Ebay when I've tried to communicate with another member I've asked to type in the text displayed on a security image. The thing is, it wasn't visible - Nothing there at all.

I'm using the latest 68K version of IBrowse on my 1200 060 Mediator.Voodoo3 Amiga.

Appreciate any pointers.  :)

Cheers.

Assuming you've got Javascript turned on, there's probably nothing more you can do. IBrowse is not up to par with the likes of Firefox...

The security image problem has been like this for some time, in fact as far as I remember, has not been available on Ibrowse 2.4 since it's release.

Yet another reason for some update from the IBrowse team.

In fact recently I have found that I cannot even now leave feedback for sellers/buyers due to changes on ebay that IBrowse just cannot handle anymore, and I have to use my PC to do the grunt work for this.

It really is getting out of date, and needs a facelift fix, IB2.5 even if IB3.x is not suitable for release as yet.

Please, please you guys on the IBrowse team can we have a stop-gap update for IB2.4, or some realistic news as to where the IB3 version is up to, a modern OS3.x browser is urgently required for the Amiga.

AWeb is clunky to use, and does not function anywhere near as well as IBrowse.

I find myself having to switch on my PC to do more NET browsing that IBrowse just cannot handle, and it grieves me to have to do it.

For all the missing features of IBrowse I much prefer it, even to Firefox, but the gap is closing faster as more and more sites are becoming inaccessible or unusable with IBrowse.

Hmmmm..... as far as I know I successfully left feedback the other day - perhaps I should re-check that.

But yes, and update to address this would be great, but I still think the IBrowse guys did a great job with the last version finally allowing me to access my Bank details.

I know, I left feedback yesterday for a single feedback, but I had a problem when leaving 2 or more feedbacks when in the list of feedbacks, because when I clicked on the "leave feedback" button it did not react, and so I had to use my PC to do the work, very annoying.

However, tonight I have been to the list window, and been able to activate the "leave feedback" button, so what was going on then I do not know.

I normally leave Javascript off as it takes so long on occasions to load an item/page that it is not worth having available, unless it is actually REQUIRED.

Yes I too was able to gain access to my bank through IB2.4 which was a pleasant surprise, but webpages seem to be using CSS, Javascript, Flash, DOM & other features that we are lacking in IB2.4 so it really needs more features to be able to be properly usable for day-to-day use.
