Internal Scanmagic 1200 and Samsung Syncmaster 172V LCD
« on: June 25, 2008, 01:18:03 PM »
Hi all,

I've had a quick search around here and can't seem to find the answer.  I have a standard CRT and Samsung Syncmaster 172V LCD - the CRT works 100% with the Scandoubler on standard amiga output, and with the BlizzardVision gfx card.

However the LCD will only sync to the BlizzardVision properly - it is rather strange though, as any time something was out of sync on my PC, it would usually flash its power light.  With the Amiga native video connected via the scandoubler, the light does not flash, but doesn't ever show a picture either - just black.

I have been looking around and it seems that the monitor might not sync down that far to a PAL screen, I think 56 - 75 is its vertical scan range.  The question is, is there any adjustment possible for the scan doubler to display on the LCD i.e. I've noticed a potentiometer on the RGB to VGA connector, what is this used for etc?

Thanks and regards
Chris

I don't think there is a solution to your problem mate...
I had the same problem with my Samsung 23" LCD/TV.
Some sets, can't go lower than 56Hz Vsync so the 50Hz of the SD just aren't enough for it to sync.
I only managed to sync a Samsung Syncmaster 940MW 19" LCD/TV but sadly the set I got had 2 dead pixels so I returned it and got the 23" that doesn't work.

Fortunatelly there are alternative solutions like RGB-->Scart for Input and the fantastic S-VHS adapter by DJBase that worked like a charm in my 23"

Another solution would be, acquiring Jens Internal SD/FF when this will be available sometime soon (I guess/hope!) that can provide more Vsync than all classic SD/FF's making it almost certain to run on all TFT's :)

Cheers

Hi mfilos,

Thanks for replying - I suspected as much on this - it does make perfect sense, but I don't think I'll want to spend a huge amount of cash just for AGA output on an LCD...

I might just stick to my CRT for the timebeing then ;)

Thanks again
Chris
