See if you can blag some from your local distributor as samples... with a bit of fast talking you can easily get 1-2 chips

Why build a minimig when you can buy one from AmigaKit & other places?

Is it cheaper, or is it just for fun?  :-?

I think I got the parts for about the same price as the A-Cube MiniMigs that are being sold, and I would have gone that route except I bought the board and started buying parts before A-Cube announced that they would be making them.

If anyone wants to buy all the parts to build one from me so I can buy a working one, I will gladly give up on making one.

I haven't started soldering yet, so the parts are all pristine, any offers?

Edit: Don't bother offering to buy one or two of the parts, it is all or nothing and if the offer is not for an amount that will get me a completed Minimig, or very close, don't bother either as I am not interested in taking a huge loss on these parts that I have just recently received.  But if you really want to have a MiniMig that YOU put together yourself, then I have everything you need.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Oh well, all attempts to get an FPGA from other sources proved to be complicated and led to nowhere.  I've given up the hunt and ordered almost everything from Digikey.

Now I have to source the Minimig's peculiar SD card connector.  Luckily I just found that Farnell has a local distributor here.  Well worth giving them a try...

Mmm, now I just need to buy me a new soldering iron, some lead-free solder and get it all done and assembled :-D

I looked closely at the SD card socket supplied with the kit, but in the photo is looks different from what Dennis used for Minimig.  The original part for the Minimig has the solder connections hidden somewhere in the middle of the socket, whereas the one from your link has the connections at the back.  Did it fit OK for you?

Actually - I haven't soldered it yet.  The connectors are at home, and the Minimig's at work.  Since I'm lacking the FPGA, it's all been "on hold" lately... so I haven't really thought much about it.

I'll take a look at it this weekend and double-check.

..and, as it turns out, it didn't fit.  But it did provide me with the pushbuttons, power connector and joystick port.  And a helluva experimenter board to play with later.
Code 6502 asm or... DIE!!

I thought so...  the particular SD card connector used in the Minimig seems to have no compatible alternative.  The kit is nice though.  I'd been eyeing something like it for quite some time as a tinkering toy.

It is, as alexh pointed out, Maltese.  There's only two of us on this board who can communicate in it, apparently.

It's a pity, because at its peak, Amigas used to sell like hotcakes in Malta for Chrismas season, and the majority of my schoolmates had an Amiga at home.  I reckon that most never used the Amiga for anything but games... and have now moved on.

I quote that :)

I stuck to the Amiga 1200 back then since I think 1992 when things started to turn really bad. I have returned around 2000 for nostalgic reasons...

I did use Amiga mainly for games back then just like wolfchild explained, but if it wasn't for Deluxe Paint I wouldn't be doing what I do to earn a living today.
