Recession hitting Amiga World?
« on: June 07, 2008, 07:54:13 PM »
This no name FF/SD just sold on eBay for an almost sane price of $285.
Looks like an Elbox or similar?

Sure beats the recent $700+ prices being paid.

Could this be the recession hitting AmiWorld
MacBook Pro 17" 2.33GHz, e-uae, WB3.9.

Maybe, but I thought Amiga users were not affected by meaningless anomalies that effect other people... If we were affected by changes in time, economy, politics, technology we would not still be using this crap lol
Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 128MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1

I think it's more likely to be the anticipation of Jen Schoenfeld's new 24-bit internal Scandoubler / Flickerfixer has this area of the market depressed?

Unemployement's biggest jump in 22 years

and

Warren Buffet says US is in recession

Many Amigans such as myself have been laid off recently too. The US is in recession, there is no doubt. I suggest you go search Whyzzat for the "Downfall of Rome" threads.

Back on the original subject, $700-$1,000 for a SD/FF is fruitier than Froot Loops.

As AlexH says. I emailed Jens and its my understanding that it will retail roughly in the range of 129 Euros (aprx 200 USD). If you pay anymore for a scandoubler / flickerfixer right now, you're being ripped off!

I bought an indivision scandoubler last month for about 189 USD... so I think the days of people paying 900 USD for such devices are over for now.

Over here fuel is on average 5,54e/l

1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres
5.54 Euros = 8.743782 U.S. dollars

3.78541178 * 8.743782 = $33.0988154

And yes, we too drive a lot here in sparsely populated Finland. Many people have 50-100km commutes and over.
