New 3.1 install locks computer when inserting floppy disk!
« on: March 13, 2008, 11:23:27 AM »
I have an a2000 rev.6 motherboard with a GVP 040 card.  I recently installed 3.1 ROMs, and the machine booted and functioned fine with the ROM and the old 2.0 operating system.  I installed 3.1 from floppy disk, no problems, then rebooted.  Now, whenever I insert a floppy disc, the system completely locks up.  If I boot the system with a disc already in a drive, it works and reads normally until I either eject it or insert a new one.  If I boot from the Install disc, I get the same problem, but not if I boot from the actual WB 3.1 disc.  This is bbviously a software problem, but not sure what.  Any suggestions, other than trying to wipe the entire HD and start from scratch?  has anybody encountered this problem?  Thanks!

Sorry but this is going to be a short replyg, have you installed the 68040.library from the GVP disk? (Or any 68040.library) If not try that.

I had the 68040 card up and running with GVP drivers before the upgrade, but maybe I should try a re-install after the fact.  A couple other things have been acting weird since the installation, so I may have some hosed drivers/libraries.  I do seem to recall the 3.1 installer installing a 68040.library...But I'll give it a try.  Thanks!
