stiff keys
« on: January 08, 2008, 07:59:50 PM »
Hi, i have recently purchased an amiga 1200. i had one as a child but we got rid of it. My new one works fine although there is a slight problem which i hope you can help me with. The esc key sticks when i press it, i think it is because the case is on too tight, is this a common problem, thanks dave

Ok, it might be as you say - the case and keyboard might be "squeaky" so ... open up the machine (if you want) and you will see that the keyboard is not actually "fixed" in place, it just sits in little plastic brackets at the narrow side of the wedge. Given that that is the situation, try pushing/forcing (gently now) the keyboard about a bit without opening the case up first. It might create the clearance that you need to allow the Esc key to operate freely.

Yes, it is a very common problem.

Open the case and use a nail polish (or sand paper) in the hole of the ESC key.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
