Cooling
« on: November 27, 2007, 02:24:16 PM »
Have ordered OS4.0 and was thinking about the heat situation when using a BPPC continually.
I have a Mirage tower and was thinking about fitting a PCI exhaust fan.
Are they any good and is does anyone have any particular favorite model?

Do know that your 040\060 is not used any more so the operation of the BPPC will be cooler than ever with OS4 that is if you used to use the PPC ..Also the mirage is a huge tower with allot of air. If you have been fine this far i see no reason why to upgrade colling now ,,,

Oh right, not the impression given elsewhere.
I was told that now the PPC will be running constantly, it will run very hot and cooling could be a problem.

Cheers.

Even so a Pci fan wont be the way to go i would rather go for a cooler on top of the Black BPPC heatsink..

*EDIT*
If you use i a voodoo though it could be good with that kind of fan..I dont need one though as the voodoo can tolerant very high temperatures ,,,I like less noice from my amiga anyways

The PPC currently has a fan attached.
Don't know much about it as I have not had it long.
The Voodoo I use has two fans attached.
Again bought this second hand so have no idea if they are standard or not.

Just replace your original PPC fan with a new 30mm fan, they will have more air flow and will be fine.

No doubt a good idea, but I would be bricking it, If I had to do that myself.
I note AmigaKit fit them, but not fussed on the idea of sending it off.

Have seen round IDE cables being sold quite cheaply and think these might be a good idea to help with airflow.
I have also seen them for floppy drives.
Are the connections for Amiga and PC the same for floppy drive cables?

The Amiga floppy cable don't need a twist on cable, like IBM units does.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Exactly what is the size of the Blizzard fan? Can you buy one somewhere? Anybody measure it?

I don't have the fan anymore, and now need to get it cool for OS4 Classic. Hmmm.

Amiga Kit sell a blizzard fan, a wee bit expensive but if you need one what can you do? Perhaps someone knows of an alternative solution.
