CyberGraphX Ghosting?
« on: December 18, 2007, 04:46:44 PM »
Hey all.. I am trying to figure out why CyberGraphX starts ghosting on the workbench at anything higher than 800x600. I tried playing around with CGX Mode but i'm not sure what i'm doing. Anyone else encounter this problem, it does it on both of my monitors.

Hmmm.....maybe you should send me your graphic cards for repair.  ;-)

Oh and a keg of that fine, home brew too. I'm not cheap, you know. When I fix the cards, I'll send the empty keg back.

The issue is not related to Cybergraphx, but probably to the bad signal quality of the Permedia2. Maybe some better shielded VGA cable could make a small improvement, but don't expect wonders.
My BVision is ok at 1024x768, but 1280x1024 looks just horrible...

well, i'll be brewing a 5 gallon bucket of stout soon.. got an empty keg to put it in? hehe...

But seriously.. thanks for the reply guys.. it's a good high end sony monitor. I'm sure the cable is fine, but it's probably the chipset, since both monitors looked the same.  What can I do but sit back and enjoy my Amiga!  :-D

if the card is the CV643D (your signature), its 4MB of videoram are not enough for the higher resolutions at 24 bits.

Try to setup a 1024x768 @ 16 bit

I agree with humppa -

Seriously, if it's a dark outline next to high contrast areas like window borders, etc...  Switch out that monitor cable for a true triple-shielded one with the ferrite rings near the connectors.  As short of cable as you can fit, too.  If you only need 2 feet, get a 2 foot one.

I know it sounds stupid, but it makes a huge difference in picture quality for poor signal cards like the CV64/3d.  The pre-packaged cables for most everything are crap, nowadays.  (Especially if the monitor has built-in DVI, the VGA cable is going to be garbage.)

I have no idea if this company is any good but this is the type of cable you're looking for.

I could try it. I have a dual input Sony.... one is permanently attached though.. :) It has ferrite rings on each end of the permanent one.. maybe I can isolate the cable so it's not in the jungle of cables on my desk too.. thanks for the idea..
