The front line staff I used to work with in EDS were a good bunch.
From what I can gather, the problems stemmed from further up the food chain.

So in that respect, probably not that much different to most other companies.

I was also under the impression that EDS staff weren't paid as quite as much as their counterparts in other companies.
Although how anyone know that is a mystery a I'm told EDS staff are not allowed to talk about their saleries and could face dismissal if they do.

Both are a myth.

Lower salaries might have been an issue in the past but EDS have long since got fed up with staff being poached that were probably now slightly ahead of the competition.  In fact, all offers by other companies for me to work for them have all been at a lower salary!

Salary discussion is a part of the Performance Appraisal process and it's actively encouraged to know what those around you are rewarded for the work they do.

However, EDS in America are effectively a TOTALLY different company - US workers are protected in the same way UK workers aren't and the work ethos is totally different.  Same with EDS in India.

That's a pretty standard policy at many US companies, mine too.

And welcome back to posting ESD.bod. It must have been hard to resist all this time. :-)

The not allowed to talk about pay bit came from an EDS employee.
But that was probably four or five years ago now so may just be out of date info.

The discussion arose because he found a payslip from one of our staff and was very concerned.
Wasn't an issue for us though as pay is dictated by grade and the scales are published for all to see.
