A1200 HD Install
« on: November 10, 2007, 06:01:58 PM »
I have preped my hd for the A1200 and need to install the WB 3.0 floppies to the hard disk. I installed the HD with a third party GVP installer and I dont have the Amiga Install 3.0 Disk.

I just need instructions to install the floppies manualy, or kmow where I can download a copy of the Install disk.

This is only true if you define installing as "using a program which does the installation automatically". In all other case it's nonsense.

Boot from the Workbench disk. Choose "Execute Command" from the menu and enter newshell. Into the shell window enter the following command:

copy df0:#? dh0: all clone

Remove the disk and reboot. It should boot from the HDD. Open the shell window again, insert the Extras disk and type the command again:

copy df0:#? dh0: all clone

Now insert the Fonts disk and enter the command

copy df0:#? dh0:Fonts all clone

repeat this with the Storage disk and

copy df0:#? dh0:Storage all clone

and with the Locale disk and

copy df0:#? dh0:Locale all clone

At last enter

copy dh0:System.info dh0:Storage.info

Now reboot and rearrange the icons so that they don't overlap.

In all commands above, replace DH0 by the name of your boot partition.

That's it.

Bye,
Thomas

Thanks, worked a treat.

I must have done it myself at some stage because I installed the hard disk myself after I purchased the A1200 but couldn't remember how I did it.

How did you partition the harddisk without the programs on the install disk? (HDToolbox)
A1200, Blizzard 030, 2+32MB ram, 4GB CF, pcmcia netcard, Kickstart 3,1
A600, 2MB chip ram+4Mb pcmcia S-RAM, Kickstart 3,1
CD32 - Just for fun  :-D
