Nicebutdim here,

I am using the Amiga Online 2006 Edition.
I have downloaded two things:
    1. cu_1992_07_d036.adf a demo disk which has OctaMED
       Pro
    2. some .mods

I click on my launcher in Windows XP and get my little menu. I open Workbench 3.X. F12 it and select the .adf disk image to boot using quickstart and restart to open the demo disk.

When that's up and running and I open OctaMED, when I want to load .mods, I can't find them on my file menu. How can I open my .mods in OctaMED.

Do I need to transfer them from my Windows XP folder to somewhere the emulated OctaMED can get at them?

Please help.

Add "show windows drivers" at configuration.......
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

rkauer,

thankyou very much for your response.

I've opened up the WinUAE properties to change the configuration. I'm sorry dude, I don't see where I can select to show windows drivers. Please help.

^^,

Do not use Quickstart. Run Workbench 3.X, press F12, go to Floppies, insert your ADF into DF0, set speed to Turbo and click on Reset. Then run Octamed and load your mod files from DH2.

What rkauer meant is the checkbox "add pc drives at startup" which is on the Hard Drives page. But AFAIK Amiga Forever has this checked by default.

Bye,
Thomas

Thankyou Thomas,

I took your advice, but when I came to the desktop that I see after the disk loads there is no icon.

Usually I bring the F12 menu up in Workbench 3.X and go to Quickstart. In 'Emulated Floppy Drives' I load the disk into DF0:

When I restart and the system behaves as if it has booted from a disk, I get the 'Workbench Screen' with "Amiganuts Copywrite" on the desktop and an icon "CU36". When I double click the icon the OctaMED package starts up.

I can get all this up and running but when I want to open a file, I get a lot of directories but I don't know how to get my .mods (in Windows XP file) into one of these Amiga directories.

Help please.

^^, nicebutdim

What you probably have to do is to make your Windows drives visible in the emulation. This way you will be able to choose any file on your Windows harddrive from octamed (or any other Amiga program).

To do that, in the step where you hit F12 and select your octamed adf on the Quickstart page, go to Hard drives page too and make sure the Add PC drives at startup option is checked. After that, hit Reset button on the bottom of the window to reset the Amiga and start booting from the adf.

After it boots, you should see a couple of more icons beside the octamed one (representing the adf). The other ones are your PC hardrive partitions.

Now you should be able to browse these drives in octamed. I'm not sure how the octamed's "open file" dialog lookes like but look for "Drives" or "Volumes" button. The harddrive partitions should be designated by DHx (where x is a digit). The adf will be marked as DF0. These identifiers are equivalent to drive letters on PC (you know, A is a floppy, C - main partition, D and so on - other partitions and drives like CD-ROM).

That's absolutely fantastic _yak_, thankyou very much. Now I can see all the drives on my laptop from within the OctaMED files.

When I start the disk up I get a few new icons on the top right hand of the desktop. These are the drives I wanted to access.

When I am in OctaMED, in the files section I can easily get access to the drives where I keep .mods

Thankyou very much ^^,
