Would you trust a report from a man holding a drill and with such shifty eyes :-D

BTW, nice report  :-) . I particularly liked your exploration of the aroma associated with new computer hardware   .

If you must put an image from my server on here, could you upload it to the gallery instead of using my bandwidth, please.

I'm glad you enjoyed the report, though.  :-D

@xeron

Very nice report!  You write really well, enjoyed it much.  Keep us tuned in to future episodes...I need a new machine too, my wife's aging  AMD-K6/2 isn't cutting it anymore, the A1 looks and sounds great, but I'll wait to see about OS4.  Regards, Art

This was one of the funniest reviews I´ve read so far and still very informative about the hardware!! :-D:-D

Please make a software-review in this style too (and I don't even care if the review is about Linux, and yes I don't like Linux either) :-D

Hope to hear soon from you.

Hope the OS4 CD won't cut your fingertips :-)

Nice review indeed!

Yeah, that drill bit was scary!

Great read.

How long to boot up? We're you able to make a RAM: disk? If not, it's kind of useless. I'm quite attached to that feature (silly me).

What I'll like about AOS4.0 is the LACK of details when it's booting, like in the linux/xp/98se screens.

AmigaOne! Show a picture of a boot when you boot! Hehe.

So I guess that A500, 600, 1000, 2000, CDTV, CD32, are pure garbage then? Thanks for posting here.

I don't know. Interestingly, my AmigaONE gets to a login prompt just as my Amiga 4000 hits workbench (provided that LoadWB didn't crash like it sometimes does from coldboot).

I suppose you can install one. Its not there by default.

Nice one !
I read it from ANN first though ..  :-o

I took a few piccies of mine up to the built stage - but theyre on APS film.

I did have a few problems with the Radeon (7000VE in my case) displaying X properly, but a bit of fiddling with debconf, etc, and fbdev, and it works fine.
infact it works marvellously. If Linux is like this, then hows OS4 gonna be ?! :-D
I am still having problems getting it online - I found myself wishing for something as simple to set up as Miami or the Genesis Wizard - pppconfig is ok, but actually getting the bloody thing to dial through the modem !

guess thats what comes of not making sacrifices to the god of Towers ! (though I had enough of that when I used to build dirty cheapo 486's for a living...)

Thats one of the advantages of my network setup (ADSL router). I just selected "Set up network via DHCP". A few seconds later it was all done with no intervention from me. From the first boot, the internet was available.
