Does it only have bnc or is there a DB15 AUI connector on it also?

If the Hydra has got an AUI port, just buy a generic TP transceiver (<$10). Any type should do. Set the jumpers to 10Base5 or AUI and you're set.

If there's no AUI, you can look for a BNC/TP media converter or simply an old hub with TP and BNC. The latter you can probably pick up for free somewhere or little money on ebay. I've probably got one somewhere if I look hard.

Watch out for the somewhat non-standard BNC ports on the Hydranet: if yours has two connectors you'd connect one to the hub and put the terminator on the other. On the hub you use the standard T-connector plus terminator - as you would on the Hydra with only one connector. Link

I had one in my A4000. And it had both BNC and RJ45 connectors on it. But they were not usable at the same time. You had to change a group of jumpers on the card into another position. There were something like five or six jumpers in a row and they all had to be changed.

Is this a Zorro card or some other card type?

bah... I have the one with only the BNC connector.... I do have a BNC/rj45 convertor box... but I have not managed to get the Hydra to work in any way with OS 3.9 on an A2000 :-(

I have tried this with that BNC/rj45 convertor box and with a hub providing bnc and rj45 connectors.. so my hrydra might be defect.. althought all tools tell me the hydra is ok

Joe..

Hydra Systems network card for A2/3/4000 Amigas

    * Card with book and software disk
    * Never tried adapter but was told it was good by previous owner
    * You'll need an AUI adapter if you want to use this with a twisted pair Ethernet network since it only comes with coax and AUI. Some older Ethernet hubs also have coax so you could plug it into that (remember, you'll need a coax t and terminator at both ends of the coax cable).

This card must be sold as-is due to age but should be working fine. Please see my positive feedback. Thank you for lookin

Ebay has lots of Ethernet trancievers.  One like this will work, but I prefer the ones with the short cables so it's not sticking out.

Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
