Buddha (not the god!) experiences!
« on: September 18, 2007, 05:14:44 PM »
Does anybody have any experiences with the Buddha ide-controller?

http://www.vesalia.de/e_buddha.htm

The text refers to a "Phoenix board" what is that? I googled it and I got some refs to a SCSI board for the A1000.

Thanks in advance!

OK.. 2 things..

1)  A common misconception among Westerners views the Buddha as the Buddhist counterpart to “God”; Buddhism, however, is non-theistic (i.e., in general it does not teach the existence of a supreme creator god or depend on any supreme being for enlightenment; the Buddha is a guide and teacher who points the way to nirvana). Source: Wikipedia Article (Couldn't be bothered to write a paragraph myself)

2) The Phoenix edition version of the Buddha card is designed for the A1000 "Phoenix" motherboard specifically. But ti does still work perfectly fine in any Zorro II slot. (I have a phoenix edition in my A2000)

:-D Thanks for the guide!

Glad to hear that it works fine. But how much faster than a the A4000D ide port is it in daily use? And how does the 1.3 kickstart option works?

And can I use it under MorphOS PowerPC?

Please guide me some more ;-) (with all respect ...)

I've got the gold version and used it in my A3000 to run a CD ROM and Hard Drive.  It's a nice piece of kit and even has a clock port for extra expansion.

It comes with a floppy that has some extra utilities and this was corrupt when it arrived.  I emailed Jens at Individual and he emailed me straight back with a link so I could download a DMS image of the disk.  Now that's what I call support!
A2000, A3000, 2 x A1200T, A1200, A4000Tower & Mediator, CD32, VIC-20, C64, C128, C128D, PET 8032, Minimig & ARM, C-One, FPGA Arcade... and AmigaOne X1000.

if it works in the A2000 it would be an easy solution to running a CF card in the box instead of an HD...

There are two distributions of the Buddha Phoenix IDE controller.  The version we stock is the Zorro compatible product:

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=486

It works with any Zorro II or III equipped Amiga.

Additionally, the Buddha IDE is supplied with commercial IDEFIX software.

Visit the above link for an updated image of the latest Buddha IDE Zorro board.
