The gender of the DB-25 is wrong you need female to female cable. And it states thats its a printer cable so its probably straight wiring, its so long since i've used a serial printer i can't remember.

You need a cable that says its a null modem or serial cross over, i have a Belkin one that has DB-25 and Db-9 at both ends of the cable, and i used to use that for sernet on my A4000.

Searching for null modem on that site yielded this :-

I spotted a Null Modem 9 to 25 pin cable at staples for 10$ and if it works I was thinking of picking it up. I just wanted to make sure that I wouldnt fry the amiga or PC in using it. I assume the 9pn goes to the PC and the 25 to the parallel on the amiga...

Make sure that you connect both ends of the cables to the Amiga and pc before turning the power on. I once had the power on on both the Amiga and the pc. Connected the serial cable to the Amig, and then the pc. I couldnt get it in right away, sp I jiggled it a little.. A few sparks appeared, the pc died and then I felt the familiar smell of burnt electronics, and realized that the motherboard on the pc had just died by my hands..

Oh well, my 1200 survived so it wasnt a great loss..

The 25-pin goes to the serial port.

Belkin do/did make a null modem cable that had both 9-pin and 25-pin connectors on each end of the cable (I bought one ages ago) which works perfectly for transferring data between the Amiga and pc.  I bought mine from www.ebuyer.com (UK), but I'm sure there's one on your side of the pond.

You can simply DIY! See how on Cloanto´s page.

On the very same page you can find the compatible cables from Belkin and other companies.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

That style of cable is usually used to connect an external modem, which typically have a 25-pin female DCE connector, to a PC, which have a 9-pin male DTE.  You would have to add a female-female gender reverser, plus a null modem adapter (either 9-pin or 25 pin...whichever end of the cable matches) because both Amiga & PC are DTE.

This is a 9-pin F-F null modem, plus a 9-25 pin adapter, for less than $10, with a minimum of unwieldy connector & adapter bulk.

PC Connection have good prices, and their selection is good, but they aren't the best for prompt delivery, though.  If you are in a hurry, run to your neighborhood Radio Shack.  Serial cable adapters aren't easy to find in office supply stores much anymore; it's all USB now.
