IDEfix Express and adapter board
« on: July 24, 2007, 09:50:37 AM »
Hi

Yesterday i received my IDEfix Express with Rev2 adapter board and the driver disk.
Some questions about it.

1) How can i check if it is working properly ?
On the driver disk there is a program called DiagExpress. Calling it gives me no message
at all, it just starts and quite. Removing the speedjumpers of the adapter board,
then calling DiagExpress again gives me the message, that no jumpers are set. But as i
said, calling it with both jumpers set gives me no message - what does it mean ?

2) The driver disk contains IDEFix with scsi.device V119.4 . I do also have IDEFix with
scsi.device V119.16 from IDEMax 97 package and IDEFix scsi.device with V119.17
from EB_final.lha downloadable from Individual Computers webpage.
Can i use IDEFix V119.17 from eb_final.lha with IDEfix Express + Adapter board ?

3) How can i test the performance of this IDEFix Express + adapter board ? Copying a big file
from IDE-Port 1 to IDE-Port 2 or copying a big media file from cdrom on Port 2 to HDD on port 1 ?
A normal diskspeed measurement of one diskdrive seems to give not more speed.
diskspeed gave me:
- with scsi.devive  V43.35: READ/WRITE - 2.2 MB/s
- with scsi.device V119.4 : READ/WRITE - 2.9 MB/s
this seems to be normal improvement of IDEFix scsi.device, and not as a result of the adapter
board - or am i false ?

4) The biggest disadvantage is now, that i no longer have access to my second harddrive. I cant
see it anymore.
On port 1 of IDEfix i have my 40GB Samsung bootdrive (master) and - via CF-IDE adapter, my 4GB Hitachi
Microdrive as slave. Both worked properly if using scsi.device V43.35, but with IDEfix it has gone !
What to do, how can i solve this ?????
On the second IDE port is my Slimline CDDVD Drive. It is no option to put the Microdrive on the
second IDE Port, because the CDDVD drive is very picky about having a hard drive besides itself.

Hope someone can help me.
