I recently acquired an Amiga 2000 and 3000. No Workbench floppies were included. The A2000 does not currently have a hard disk. The A3000 had two hard disks installed, one with Workbench 3.1. I booted it a few times, but then it quit booting (it was displaying a "Not a DOS disk in HD01:" message). I tried to make an image of the system drive on another computer, but I got an I/O error after 50 megabytes. I think the system drive is dead, because I can't get it to show up in the boot menu, and Kickstart hangs for a while tring to access the drive.
I have Workbench 3.1 images, but I am not completely sure how I would install Workbench from them. I don't think I have anything else that I could use to write
the images to floppies (the only other Amiga that I have is an A1000 with no hard drive).
Would it work to install AmigaOS in UAE on a partitioned image with the correct size and geometry for the working drive (I already made an image of the drive, and E-UAE appears to be able to use a partitioned image and detect the geometry from the RDB), and then write that image to the disk using dd?
