Fatter Angus 1 mb install on Amiga 500
« on: June 13, 2007, 12:19:12 AM »
Can I install a Fatter Angus 8327a 1mb into an A500 without modification, I mean is it just a straight chip swap and it will work?

All help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Did u need ECS? No? Then give it a try.

But 1st an advertise: u need an A500 revision 6 board. Don't even try to fiddle around with other versions, too much hacks to do (wiring around, poking around....)

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

It will work, but in order to access the additional RAM, you will need:

a 512k expansion in the "trap door" (will be addressed as "chip mem" instead of "slowmem")

A minor modification to the motherboard, depending on the board revision.

On Rev 6 boards, you can solder the extra RAM directly to the motherboard.

There's a real good writeup on this somewhere, I just can't seem to find it...

Angus isn't fat. At least not the last time I saw him running around on stage :-)
