Tiny DOpus-like file manager
« on: July 09, 2007, 03:17:13 PM »
I'm looking for a DOpus 4-like file manager with a very small file size to go on a boot floppy. It should not use MUI. Any recommendations?

TIA

Have you ever tried DiskMaster 2.0?
In my humble opinion, previous or following versions are not so good as 2.0... it is very simple and useful!

Oh yeah, put your basic WB files to get a workable WB, at least 2.1c Diskmaster, AZ, and shell on a bootable disk and that will allow you take care of most any problems. Its certainly got me out of a number of problems.
Amiga 3000D UP and running! Hear that clicking. 8)

Thanks guys! I forgot about DiskMaster. It runs really well and is indeed very small. Maybe I'm being too picky, but is there something similar of a similar size which offers some idea of progress when copying large numbers of files?

I used to use one called DirWork, I think version 1.62 or something.  The later versions (after it became commercial) were too bloated.  It was very customizable.

@Oldsmobile_Mike:

DirWork 1.62 used to be my favorite too..  It was one of those great apps that just seemed to work exactly the way I wanted it to, and like you say was quite flexible in setting up the buttons and file actions.

DW was relatively small as well I just checked in WinUAE and the program itself is around 70k, and the separate config utility is 40k.

When DOpus 4 went open source or whatever happened, I tried it and found it lacking and awkward to use compared to DW.

EDIT:  DW does have a sort of progress display as it copies, it doesn't show you the time or files remaining, but it does show you the filename currently being copied, so you at least have an idea of how far along the copy is...

It's good to see another Ordering fan!  Ordering is small, fast and very configurable.  Very fast even at 7MHz.

I think ClickDosII is still available on Aminet.  Its small and configuable with text file, but primitive.
