A2000 and floppy drives question
« on: June 01, 2007, 02:04:42 PM »
I just received a nice working replacement A2000 mobo, but I cannot get the damn thing work with floppies!
I have 3 x 2 880kb and one 1.7MB ... naturally I want to install the HD one, so I look it's jumper on the back, it is set to DS0 (it is a 357A drive) so I just connect it to a floppy cable before the twist on the last connector.
nothing, it does click but it does not read the wb3.1 disk on it, so I get greated with the 3.1 insert disk screen...
I tried the other 2, the same... wth I thought, I will just connect the gvp scsi card and boot from it's HD... it boots OK, and on wb3.1 screen I see 3! floppy drives with ??? under them, just like when u connect the cable wrong... and I only have connected the 1.7MB drive!
there is a jumper on the mobo about 2nd internal drive, it is off as I intend to only use the 1.7MB one...
putting a 880kb drive shows only one floppy with ??? under it...
anyone has any idea what is going on?
thanks!  :-)

if its set as DS0, have you checked that the cable has NO twist? there is jumper for df1 on motherboard check that too.
Better sorry than worry.

yes , the cable has NO twist where I connect the drive, and the mobo jumper is off...
the "jumpers" on the back of the drive is like that:

...
...

and mine is jumpered this way:

...
.==

that is the DS0 setting... (== is a jumper)

Changed both cia's I can now work normally with the 880kb drive...
but jumpering the mobo , making the HD-floppy DS1 and putting it after the twist, did not help...
is there a way to make the HD floppy work on A2000 ? even alone it won't work OK... it just clicks...

Hi Keropi.

 Did u put the hd-floppy handler in L: or Devs:DosDrivers ?

What hardware are u using? An Amstrad A357 or an Individual XL drive? Both need install drivers in order to use.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
