"utility.library" suggest it ain't KS1.3 compatible at all.

Try "AmokED" a (X)DME reinplementation in Oberon.Or  UEdit Atleast older version ran just fine on my bare 1.3 Amiga500.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

I used to use CygnusED under 1.3 if I remember correctly.

Hello,

Could somebody recommend to me a free or shareware Kickstart 1.3 compatible and user-friendly text editor ?

I'm surprised nobody here has mentioned the mighty TurboText! The author, Martin Taillefer, Mr. OS 3.1 while at CBM, made it public domain about a year ago, if I'm not imagining things (again).

The TTx 1.03 version will certainly run under 1.3, and maybe version 2, which is on and maybe Aminet.

If you can find one of these disks, or another source, then you could try this one.

:)

Thank you guys for your help.

AmokED wants KS 2 ...

UEdit does work under KS 1.3.  I find it a bit unclear and not very handy, but at least it is public domain.

Older versions do work on 1.3, but they haven't been released under public domain, have they ?

Turbotext 2 won't work under KS 1.3, and I haven't any older version.

I will investigate, thanks.

In the meantime I will stick to "Article Editor" from Professional Page 3, which is clean and handy.

I like AZ. Should be on Aminet.

It is on Aminet : http://aminet.net/text/edit/AZ154.lzh.  I have just tried it on WinUAE, but whether I run it from the CLI or the WB, nothing happens...

I think that version needs some additional libraries - I think they're included in that archive, though. I have an older version that runs standalone. Check Fish disks 228 and 346.

Well, you are right, sorry : I kind of missed the library out.  Now it works, and has got everything I need at the moment.  Thank you !
